"We were unable to immediately complete the documents required by the MTRCB," Yap said in Filipino in a statement published on his Facebook account.

"We are also considering the possibility of premiering it abroad first or postponing the theatrical release and focusing instead on streaming platforms," he added.

In a Jan. 29 statement, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board said the "Pepsi Paloma" film is not under review because of incomplete requirements.

MTRCB Vice Chairman Paulino Cases Jr. explained that the submission of Pinoyflix — the movie's distributor — was rejected as the board's Legal Affairs Division requires a Certificate or Clearance of No Pending Case from the Department of Justice, the Office of the City Prosecutor and the Regional Trial Court.

In the comments section of his post, Yap also said February and March screening slots were already full, but they would find available dates once the required additional documents were cleared.
