MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said it collected P239.05 billion in revenue in the three months of 2026, marking its highest first-quarter collection in history, fueled by a series of public auctions and stronger reforms.
Data from the BOC said the January to March revenue haul was 1.3 percent above the P236.06 billion target, generating a P2.99 billion surplus.
It was also 3.3 percent higher than the revenue generated in the same period in 2025.
“Our highest first-quarter collection of P239.054 billion, with a surplus of P2.994 billion, shows that integrity, accountability and modernization are not barriers to performance – they are the very reasons we are achieving it,” BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.
After three consecutive surplus revenues, the BOC said this showed sustained strength under intensified reforms and strengthened governance measures.
Key contributors to its record-high first-quarter gains include the public auctions of forfeited goods, particularly seized smuggled high-end vehicles.
The BOC recently turned over P102.4 million in auction proceeds from seized luxury vehicles of the contractor couple, Sarah and Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya, to the Bureau of the Treasury.
It also cited stronger post-clearance audit operations that help ensure compliance with customs laws and the accurate payment of duties and taxes.
The BOC said this strong performance places the first quarter of 2026 among its top-performing periods, surpassed only by the July to September collections in 2025, another record-breaking performance achieved under the current leadership.
“With its strong first-quarter performance, the BOC continues to move forward as a modern, responsive and results-driven institution – demonstrating that principled governance can deliver meaningful and measurable results for the Filipino people,” it said.
