Creamline and Cignal share an early lead in the PVL On Tour as they both pull off a pair of wins over Akari and Capital1 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur
MANILA, Philippinez – The Creamline Cool Smashers and the Cignal HD Spikers kept their unbeaten slate, taking down Akari and Capital1, respectively, in Day 2 of the 2025 PVL On Tour at the Chavit Coliseum in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, on Monday, June 23.
Creamline took control late to beat the Akari Chargers in four sets, 27-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, for an early 2-0 lead in Pool B.
“I’m happy even if it’s the second game of a back-to-back. But there are still a lot to improve to continue our good performances,” Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses said after the game.
The Cool Smashers leaned on four double-digit scorers, with Michele Gumabao putting up 18 points off 14 attacks and Alyssa Valdez posting 16 points.
Jema Galanza had 12 points, while rookie Sheena Toring put up 10 for the crowd darlings.
In the fourth set, Creamline used a 13-5 run to put away Akari.
Akari nearly stole the opening set, turning a 17-22 deficit into a 24-all tie before timely attacks from Galanza saved Creamline from an early disaster.
Gretchel Soltones anchored Akari with 18 points highlighted by 17 attacks, while Celine Domingo and Eli Soyud had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Earlier, the Cignal HD Spikers dominated the Capital1 Solar Spikers in straight sets, 25-21, 25-22, 25-16, to improve to 2-0 and share the Group B lead with Creamline.
Erika Santos and Roselyn Doria-Aquino led Cignal with 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Ishie Lalongisip and Jackie Acuña added 8 points each.
Gel Cayuna orchestrated the Cignal offense with 27 excellent sets along with 5 points as the HD Spikers secured the lopsided win, which followed their domination of Akari last Sunday.
Capital1 and Akari both dropped to 0-2.
Creamline and Cignal duke it out on July 1 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan as Akari and Capital1 return to action on July 5 at the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal, against ZUS Coffee and Chery Tiggo, respectively. – Rappler.com
