MANILA, Philippines — A Makati court has ordered the preservation of assets belonging to detained preacher Apollo Quiboloy, placing the properties under court custody.
The asset preservation order placed 37 real properties, 25 vehicles, 12 bank accounts, two firetrucks, a Cessna plane and a fuel tanker under the custody of the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 147.
“There could be an imminent certainty that the subject monetary instruments and properties will be removed, transferred, concealed or disposed beyond the reach of law, wherein a favorable judgment in this case may be ineffectual and render the efforts of the petitioner futile,” the court ruled.
The court said assets named under Quiboloy or the executive pastor of his religious group, Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), should be placed under court custody.
While Quiboloy’s camp presented witnesses to demonstrate that their church had been receiving tithes and love offerings, the KOJC “has not properly established that it has an independent and legitimate source of income,” the court ruled.
Quiboloy was arrested in September 2024 and has been detained at the Pasig city jail on human trafficking charges.
