COTABATO CITY — The Cotabato City government is mourning the death of Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) member Danda Juanday, who passed away Sunday at the age of 74.
In a statement Monday, Mayor Mohammad Ali Matabalao said the Philippine flag at the city hall is flying at half-mast to honor the life and contributions of Juanday, who also served as a former city administrator.
Former Cotabato City mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi announced Juanday's death on her Facebook page Sunday.
"I lost a very strong pillar of our family. Uncle Dan, my mother's brother, joined our creator. I am in so much pain," she said.
Sayadi described Juanday as an official passionate about his work.

"Before he died, he was named one of the Ten Outstanding Bridging Leaders of the Asian Institute of Management," she said.
During Monday's convocation at the city hall, employees paid tribute to Juanday.
Vice Mayor Butch Abu described Juanday as a dedicated public servant of integrity "who served all citizens regardless of their political, cultural, or religious affiliations."
Hashim Manticayan, president of the League of Bangsamoro Organizations (LBO), called the late councilor "a compassionate leader devoted to serving the Bangsamoro's health and welfare."
