MANILA, Philippines — Cosco Capital lnc., the listed retail holding firm of tycoon Lucio Co, grew its earnings by 3.4 percent to P15.96 billion in 2025 amid strong operating performance from the group’s major business segments.

The company also reported a 10.6-percent increase in revenues to P262 billion last year from P237 billion in 2024.

The group’s grocery retailing businesses, Puregold Price Club lnc. and S&R Membership Shopping Club, accounted for 68 percent of total net income during the year, followed by liquor distribution with 23.5 percent, commercial real estate segment with seven percent, energy and minerals with one percent and specialty retail with 0.5 percent.

“The group continued to benefit from the economic recovery amidst the prevailing macroeconomic challenges by way of sustained and stronger revenue growth across all its business segments which indicates the recovering consumer demand,” Cosco said.

Flagship retail chain Puregold delivered an 8.8-percent increase in net income last year to P11.3 billion on the back of strong topline growth and improvement in gross margins.

Puregold generated revenues of P242.45 billion in 2025, 10.6 percent higher than the P219.17 billion recorded in the previous year. 

The company recorded positive same store sales growth of 4.1 percent from Puregold stores, driven by higher basket size and 6.1 percent from S&R Warehouse clubs due to higher traffic.

“Our record-breaking earnings underscore the resilience of our core businesses with the aim at providing our target customers the best value, even amid challenging market conditions,” Puregold Price Club Inc. president Ferdinand Vincent Co said.

“As we move into 2026, we remain focused on accelerating our store expansion in key provincial markets – broadening our reach, enhancing customer convenience, accessibility and positioning the company for sustained long-term growth and value creation,” he said.

As of end-2025, Puregold operates a total of 784 stores nationwide, composed of 680 Puregold stores, 33 S&R Membership Shopping Warehouses and 71 S&R New York Style quick service restaurants.
