Cops, Gabriela clash over ‘maximum tolerance’ in March 8 protest scuffle

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District (MPD) on Monday maintained that it exercised “maximum tolerance” during a scuffle with protesters marking International Working Women’s Day, but women’s group Gabriela condemned the law enforcers’ response. Rallyists gathered at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila on Sunday to call for the abolition of the value-added tax and for
