MANILA, Philippines — A police officer tagged in the fatal shooting of his fellow policeman and a civilian in Maragondon, Cavite on Wednesday is facing dismissal.

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. yesterday ordered the conduct of summary dismissal proceedings against Cpl. Rolando Periodico Jr. of the Trece Martires police.

Periodico was arrested after he allegedly shot dead S/Sgt. Junmark Sisante of the Magallanes police and Arjay Mojica, said to be a security aide of a mayor, at a resort in Barangay San Miguel A.

Another officer, Cpl. Novinidhon Climacosa of the Ternate police, was wounded in the incident.

Periodico and his companion were reportedly drunk when they figured in an argument with the victims, which resulted in the shooting.

Meanwhile, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) said it would conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the shooting.

Napolcom-Calabarzon director Owen de Luna yesterday sent two special investigators to Maragondon, who will validate documents to be provided by the local police.

The Napolcom has administrative control and operational supervision over police offices, stations and units within its jurisdiction, especially if police officers are involved in an incident.
