MANILA, Philippines — Comedian and singer Ate Gay revealed he is battling stage-4 cancer and is asking for prayers and support from the public.

The 54-year-old entertainer, famous for his impersonations of National Artist Nora Aunor and his comic song mashups, shared his condition in an interview featured on GMA Network’s “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.”

Gil Aducal Morales in real life, Ate Gay said he first noticed changes in his face that led him to undergo ultrasound, CT scans and a biopsy. While initial results showed a benign tumor, a second opinion confirmed malignancy.

“Parang beke lang siya noon. Hindi pantay ang mukha ko. Sabi ng mga kasama ko sa work, ‘Hindi pantay ang mukha mo, pa-check mo 'yan (It was like I had mumps back then. My face wasn’t even. My coworkers at work said, ‘Your face is uneven — have that checked), he explained.

According to him, the cancer grew and began bleeding while he was performing abroad.

“May show ako sa Canada, medyo lumalaki na siya. At saka nagbi-bleed nang nagbi-bleed. Mahirap ngayon ang lagay ko. May kanser ako, stage 4 daw. Magtatagal ba ang buhay ko? Ang sabi, hindi na daw ako aabutin ng 2026 (I had a show in Canada, and it was already getting bigger. And then it kept bleeding and bleeding. My situation is very difficult right now. I have cancer — they say it’s stage 4. Will my life last long? They say I won’t make it to 2026),” he said.

According to his doctors, surgery is no longer an option and there is no cure.

“Masakit sa akin. Halos araw-araw umiiyak ako. Hindi naman ako nagkulang kay Lord. Although lagi kong sinasabi na walang himala. Kailangan ko po ng dasal. Kailangan ko po ng lakas at sana po makayanan ko ang araw-araw kong buhay sa ngayon (They say there’s no cure. It hurts me. I cry almost every day. I haven’t failed the Lord. Although I always say there are no miracles. I need prayers. I need strength and I hope I can get through my daily life right now),” Ate Gay added.

The revelation drew an outpouring of support from fans, who sent words of encouragement.
