MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and isolated light rains are expected during the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene on Friday, January 9, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA.

In a special local weather forecast issued Tuesday, Jan. 6, PAGASA said Metro Manila may experience mostly cloudy skies with isolated light rains in the morning.

Moderate to strong winds from the northeast are expected to prevail. The heat index during the morning hours may reach up to 30°C, the agency said.

Afternoon conditions and procession. By the afternoon, PAGASA said Metro Manila will likely see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Light to strong northeast winds are expected to continue, with the heat index potentially reaching 31°C.

On Jan. 9, the image of the Black Nazarene will be brought in procession from the Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church.

The annual celebration draws Catholic devotees from across the country. During the 2025 Traslacion, official tallies from Quiapo Church said the procession drew 8.12 million devotees.
