Citicore Energy REIT Corp. (CREIT), through its subsidiary Citicore Solar Batangas I, Inc. (CSBat1), has filed an application with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) seeking approval for the construction of point-to-point interconnection facilities.

In a notice posted by the ERC,  CSBat1 indicated that facilities will connect its 50-megawatt (MW) Luntal solar power project in Batangas to the Luzon grid.

CSBat1 proposed to develop and own the necessary interconnection infrastructure, which includes a switchyard and transmission line.

According to CSBat1, this infrastructure will facilitate the transfer of power from the Luntal solar project's collector switch to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines' (NGCP) 69-kilovolt (kV) Tuy substation.

The project is estimated to cost ₱129 million and will be fully funded by CSBat1, ensuring no impact on regulated charges.

CSBat1 has identified NGCP as a potential contractor for the operation and maintenance of the dedicated interconnection facilities, and MCC-Citicore Construction, Inc. (MCC-CCI) as a potential contractor for the supply of equipment, materials, labor, and construction services.

The ERC will conduct a public hearing, including a review of jurisdictional requirements, an expository presentation, and a pre-trial conference, to determine the project's compliance before granting approval.

The Department of Energy (DOE) previously granted a certificate of endorsement to CSBat1 for its 125-MW peak (MWp) solar project in late 2024.

CREIT's first phase of solar power projects in Batangas has a gross installed capacity of approximately 520 MW. Subsequent phases are projected to add roughly 2,013 MW, with completion targeted for 2026 to 2027.

Over the next five years, CREIT aims to complete 32 renewable energy (RE) projects across Luzon and Visayas, achieving its goal of adding one gigawatt of ready-to-build or under-construction solar energy capacity annually.
