Central Luzon police arrest 5 drug suspects

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — Four individuals in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan and a high-value target in Balanga City, Bataan were apprehended on Friday as the Philippine National Police sustained its drive against illegal drugs in Central Luzon.

In a buy-bust operation on Friday night in Barangay Bagong Buhay 1, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, joint operatives of SJDM City Police Station Intelligence/Drug Enforcement Unit with elements of Police Community Precinct 4 and in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) apprehended four suspects identified only as alias 'Jeff,' 'Win,' 'Vin,' and alias 'Mitch.' Another suspect, identified as 'Okong,' remains at large.

Authorities seized 70 grams of shabu in fourteen small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets with a standard drug price of P476,000.00. Also confiscated were a black coin purse and P1,000 in drug money, including marked bills used in the operation.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation at about 6:45 p.m. along Roman Highway, Barangay Tenejero, Balanga City, Bataan, SDEU personnel of Balanga City Police Station arrested a high-value individual identified only as alias 'Lan' who is also included in the drug watchlist.

In the ensuing search, the raiders found two large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing approximately 100 grams of shabu, valued at P680,000, and a Smith & Wesson caliber.38 revolver.

The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and taken to Balanga CPS for proper documentation and filing of charg-es.

BGen. Jean Fajardo, regional director of PRO-3, lauded the operatives for their commitment to the PNP's intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

"These arrests send a resounding message — there is no place for illegal drugs in our communities," said Fajardo. "We will be relentless, we will be unyielding, and we will not stop until we rid our streets of this menace."

The PNP assures the public that follow-up operations are ongoing to track down remaining suspects and dismantle drug syn-dicates operating in the region.

Truck driver yields P1-M shabu in Iloilo

In Iloilo province, police authorities confiscated about P1.02 million worth of shabu from a delivery truck driver during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Mali-ao, Pavia, Iloilo in the early morning of Saturday.

The suspect, identified as alias 'Je,' 49, and a delivery truck driver from Ungka, Jaro, Iloilo City was ap-prehended after selling a P15,000 worth of shabu placed inside a medium heat-sealed sachet to an under-cover police officer.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) said the suspect is a high-value target on their drugs watchlist and was also arrested in a buy-bust operation in 2020.

The IPPO said Je was under surveillance for almost two weeks before the operation with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Iloilo Maritime Police Station, and Regional Maritime Unit 6 was carried out.

The raiders confiscated approximately 150 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P1.02 mil-lion.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the Pavia Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
