MANILA, Philippines — The country’s biggest carrier raised its income by more than double to nearly P9 billion in the first half, propelled by double-digit growth in domestic and overseas traffic.
Based on its financial report, Cebu Pacific’s parent Cebu Air Inc. said its profit jumped to P8.97 billion in the first semester from P3.55 billion a year ago.
Cebu Pacific booked a 23-percent spike in revenue to P63.33 billion, mitigating the impact of the 21-percent rise in spending to P55.42 billion.
From January to June, the airline owned by the Gokongweis flew 14 million passengers, up by 21 percent from a year ago. Cebu Pacific generated P44.23 billion in passenger revenues and raised P3.51 billion and P15.59 billion from cargo and ancillary services, respectively.
The carrier scaled up flight volume by 17 percent and seat capacity by 22 percent. Cebu Pacific CEO Michael Szucs said the airline is now reaping the fruits of investments it made in fuel-efficient aircraft.
As of June, the airline offers more than 3,300 flights weekly across 124 routes through its fleet of 99 aircraft, although this already reached 100 in July with the arrival of a widebody jet.
“These results for the first half of 2025 reflect the returns from our strategic investments in fleet and network expansion, along with the sustained demand for air travel,” Szucs said.
“With the Philippines’ growing economy, favorable demographics and expanding tourism sector, we remain well-positioned to drive long-term growth in low-cost travel,” he added.
In July, Cebu Pacific received a new Airbus A330neo, bringing its fleet to an industry-leading 100 units. For the year, the airline expects to add more seven aircraft, four of which are A330neos.
To date, Cebu Pacific leads all Philippine carriers by fleet size, with a portfolio of 12 A330s, 40 A320s, 26 A321s and 22 turboprops made by ATR. This is giving the airline the optimism it can reach the 30-million mark for passengers flown this year.
Last year, Cebu Pacific ferried an all-time high of 24.5 million passengers on aircraft addition and route expansion.
Cebu Pacific operates the widest network coverage in the Philippines, able to fly to 37 domestic destinations and 26 international cities, spanning Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
