MANILA, Philippines — The retail electricity arm of Vivant Energy has secured a deal to power the Cebu manufacturing plants of the company behind popular snack brand “Super Crunch.”
Vivant’s COREnergy is facilitating the consolidation of up to 750 kilowatts (kW) of demand across the two sites of Prifood Corp. in Mandaue City, enabling the company to secure more competitive power rates.
The supply agreement is expected to help the Cebu-based snack manufacturer optimize power costs while managing energy use across its expanding operations.
“For us, innovation goes beyond the product. It extends to how we run our operations,” Prifood assistant general manager Enrico Yap said.
Prifood is among the first food manufacturers in Visayas to enroll in the government’s retail aggregation program, which allows multiple facilities within the same franchise area to pool their demand and choose their preferred suppliers.
“Through this partnership, we are integrating more sustainable and smarter approaches to energy, ensuring that our growth remains both competitive and responsible,” Yap said.
Founded in 1990, Prifood is one of the country’s established snack food producers, with brands such as “Super Crunch” and “Super Delights” now widely distributed nationwide.
The partnership with COREnergy comes as the Energy Regulatory Commission moves to lower the contestable threshold to 100 kW from 500 kW, enabling more consumers to gain greater control over their electricity supply.
“At COREnergy, we were built to open doors for businesses to take control of how they use energy,” COREnergy retail and sales head Marko Sarmiento said.
“Through the power of choice, we enable manufacturers like Prifood to align their energy strategies with their operational goals – driving productivity, profitability and performance to support long-term growth,” Sarmiento added.
