THE Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI) hosted another insightful session of its "Ecomp-P5 Dialogues: Senatorial Series" at its historic Chamber building in Intramuros, Manila on Thursday, Mar. 20, 2025.

The event's venue added significance, highlighting the connection between the Chamber's work and the country's dynamic growth and development.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the commissioning of the building by renowned architect Juan Arellano, known for iconic landmarks such as the Metropolitan Theater, the Central Post Office, and the Legislative Building, now home to the National Museum of Fine Arts.

In his opening remarks, the Chamber President Jose Luis Yulo Jr. emphasized that the electoral process is not just about electing officials for their terms, but about making informed decisions that will shape the country's future.

This forum is designed to give senatorial candidates a platform to present their views and legislative agendas in line with the Chamber's Economic Compass Pillars 5 (Ecomp-P5) advocacy.

"We aim to help navigate the future of the Philippines through meaningful engagement with the nation's leaders and citizens. This initiative stems from years of consultations and dialogues with key stakeholders," Yulo stated.

"Each of the five pillars is guided by a dynamic compass with corresponding missions specifically designed to help rebuild the Philippines' glorious past and chart a better future," he added.

Senatorial candidates who participated in the event shared their valuable insights on Ecomp-P5 while presenting their legislative agendas and priorities.

They were Ronald Jerome Adonis, secretary general of Kilusang Mayo Uno; Wilson Amad, spokesperson of the Plaridel Higaonon Tribal Council Representative; Luke Espiritu, president of Bukluran ng Mamamayang Pilipino; and France Castro, representative of ACT Teachers Partylist.

Their contributions highlighted the importance of key national issues and how they align with the Ecomp-P5 pillars, particularly in governance, the Filipino people and education.

The Chamber also reflected on the success of the series' first session held on Mar. 13, which featured senatorial candidates Teddy Casiño, Bert Gonzales, and Raul Lambino, whose insights contributed to the ongoing conversations on these critical topics.

The Chamber encourages continued engagement with the public, especially students and youth leaders, many of whom joined the event via Zoom.

"Your participation today is essential to ensuring that we address the issues that matter most to our nation. As we work toward a brighter future, it is critical that all voices are heard, especially those of the younger generation," the CCPI president added.

The "Ecomp-P5 Dialogues" continues to provide a valuable forum for the Chamber and key stakeholders in meaningful discussion on the Economic Compass framework.

CCPI is the provenance and the oldest business institution in the Philippines, given historical markers by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines in three languages, in recognition of its status since its founding through a Spanish Royal Decree on Apr. 9, 1886.

In 2024, the Chamber printed the final version of its main Advocacy ECOMP-P5: Economic Compass Pillars 5, under the theme, "Navigating the Future," which aligns with the Chamber's guiding principle, History Builds the Future.

Each pillar is structured around a compass with a set of dynamic missions that supports the 17 Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs.
