Anne Curtis, Jericho Rosales, and Catriona Gray in "The Loved One."
Cornerstone Entertainment
MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is all set for her film debut as teased in the official trailer for "The Loved One," the reunion film of Jericho Rosales and Anne Curtis.
The movie, written and directed by Irene Villamor, will be Anne's first film since "The Mall, The Merrier," which was an entry to the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival.
"The Loved One" also reunites Anne with Jericho Rosales, who she starred opposite in the 2008 film "Baler" and the 2011 series "Green Rose."
Cornerstone Entertainment previously released a brief teaser for the film last month but has now dropped an official trailer ahead of its February 11 release.
The trailer begins in black-and-white with Jericho's Eric waiting for Anne's Ellie as she's stuck in traffic. Eric texts her "Love you still," which Ellie only acknowledges as seen.
"Dahil ako ang mas nag-mahal, ako ang laging naghihintay," narrates Eric as Cup of Joe's "Multo" begins to play.
Several scenes show glimpses of Eric and Ellie in the early part of their relationship, including a moment where they discuss their zodiac signs.
The clips transition to more solemn moments, as indicated best by Eric in the prior scene when Ellie finally arrives, "For me, saying 'I love you' has become a question."
"Look, I just want my life to make sense," Ellie says in another scene to which Eric replies, "I love you. That should make sense."
Soft pink text ask viewers if they are lovers or the loved ones, followed by brief clips of Catriona's character, who appears to be Eric's co-worker.
"I think we're just too much for each other," Ellie tells Eric in the black-and-white scene. The return of "Multo" signals the end of the trailer with the title card.
Villamor previously directed Anne in 2018's "Sid and Aya: Not A Love Story." Other romance films she has helmed include "Ulan," "Meet Me in St. Gallen," "On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets," "Five Breakups and A Romance," and most recently, "Only We Know."
Jericho himself recently made his acting comeback by headlining last year's "Lavender Fields" series (his first show in six years) and playing the titular character in "Quezon" (his first movie since 2018's "The Girl in the Orange Dress").
Before "The Girl in the Orange Dress," Jericho starred in "Siargao" with Anne's younger sister, Jasmine.
Catriona has made several television appearances as a result of her modelling, pageantry journey, and hosting experiences but has yet to act in a feature film.
"The Loved One" premieres in Philippine cinemas on February 11, the Wednesday before the Valentine's weekend.
