Casio's CRW-001 ring watch
Released
MANILA, Philippines — Japanese electronic company Casio released its first-ever digital watch that can be worn on one's finger, the CRW-001.
The device is inspired by the yubiwa or finger ring pipe designed by the company's predecessor Kashio Seisakujo back in 1946.
The yubiwa pipe was a hit after World II as users wanted to keep their hands clean while working, smoking cigarettes down to the nub. Profits from the pipe led to capital needed for Casio to develop their iconic calculators.
The CRW-001 features the same styling as the finger ring pipe, where the standard watch module is downsized around ten times but uses optimized, high-density mounting.

It has measurements of a 20 millimeter inner diameter and a 62.8 millimeter circumference, with spacers to go down to inner diamaters measuring 19 and 18 millimeters.
The ring and its case are molded in a single piece through fine metal powder injected into molds. A glass adhesive technique makes sure the ring watch is water-resistant.
A 6-digit digital LCD displays dual times (down to the second), a calendar, and a stopwatch. It also glows on the hour and at preset times.
The CRW-001 will be available for purchase in the Philippines beginning January 25 for P9,660.
