MANILA, Philippines — Small restaurant owners are feeling the brunt of high prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and agriculture products amid the Middle East war.
Joan Hipolito, president of the Philippine Association of Stores and Carinderia Owners, said an 11-kilo LPG tank now costs around P1,700, compared to P1,050 before the war.
“We reduced the ingredients so that the dish we serve is not as small as a plate of fish sauce because we also feel sorry for our customers,” Hipolito told dzBB.
With rent expenses adding to soaring LPG prices, carinderias are limiting the dishes offered, Hipolito said.
