MANILA, Philippines —  Rep. Camille Villar is pushing for the expansion of Green Jobs in the Philippines, underscoring the importance of sustainable employment opportunities that drive economic growth while protecting the environment.

Villar’s advocacy aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and create a future-proof workforce.

“Green jobs are the key to a sustainable and resilient economy,” Villar said. “By investing in clean energy, sustainable industries and eco-friendly business practices, we can generate more employment opportunities while addressing climate challenges.”

Villar aims to introduce legislative measures that will support businesses transitioning to sustainable practices, provide incentives for green industries and equip Filipino workers with skills for the green economy.

She emphasizes that renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, waste management and eco-tourism are key sectors that can drive job creation while reducing the country’s carbon footprint.

The push for green jobs is a response to the growing demand for environmental sustainability in industries worldwide.

According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), shifting to a green economy could create millions of new jobs globally. Villar believes the Philippines must seize this opportunity to develop its workforce and enhance its competitiveness in the global market.

“As we recover from economic challenges, we must ensure that our growth is not only inclusive but also sustainable,” Villar added. “Green jobs will empower Filipinos with long-term employment while safeguarding our environment for future generations.”

Villar’s Green Jobs initiative is part of her broader platform on economic development, environmental protection and social welfare, positioning her as a forward-thinking leader in the upcoming elections.
