MANILA, Philippines — BYD Cars Philippines sold 4,780 passenger vehicles last year, solidifying its position as the leader in the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment in the Philippines.

In a statement, ACMobility, the official distributor of BYD passenger vehicles in the country, said last year’s BYD sales were higher by 8,900 percent than the sales in 2023 and account for 82 percent of the Philippine NEV market.

Last year’s strong sales led to BYD ranking as the 11th best-selling automotive brand in the country, accounting for one percent of the market.

Of the total sales, 2,078 units comprised the BYD Seagull, Dolphin, Atto 3, T3, Seal, Han and Tang.

With a 69 percent share in the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment, BYD was also the leader in the country’s BEV market last year.

In 2024, sales of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i reached 2,669 units, making it the brand’s top-selling model.

It was also the best-selling model in the combined NEV and hybrid electric vehicle segments from July to December last year.

“This achievement reflects the dedication of our team, the unwavering support of our dealer partners and suppliers, and most importantly, the trust of our valued customers. Together, we will continue driving the Philippines toward a smarter and greener future with innovative and accessible solutions,” BYD Cars Philippines managing director Bob Palanca said.

For this year, the plan is to bring BYD vehicles and services to more areas.

BYD Cars Philippines has already green-lit 52 dealer locations.

Last year, it closed with 25 operational dealerships.

“The growing network of BYD dealerships and service centers and ACMobility’s expanding footprint of EV charging stations across the country are part of the dynamic ecosystem ACMobility envisions in supporting and encouraging the country’s transition toward electric mobility,” Palanca said.
