SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan, Philippines — Erratic water supply led the city council here to declare a state of calamity effective Feb. 25, a local official confirmed yesterday.
City Information Officer Bryan Ocampo confirmed to The STAR that the council approved a resolution declaring the entire city under a state of calamity “due to the effect brought by the lack of water supply” in areas served by PrimeWater.
The declaration followed the recommendation of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, chaired by Mayor Florida Robes.
Ocampo said the city government implemented Task Force TUGON to provide water deliveries to affected villages.
He added that the city government is coordinating with the Local Water Utilities Administration, Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System and National Water Resources Board to find long-term solutions to the water crisis.
