Mona Ann Campos, Comelec election supervisor for Bulacan, said the event aimed to promote a peaceful, orderly, free and fair election and to safeguard the sanctity of the electoral process.
"We welcome and thank you for participating in this significant occasion in gathering together to sign on peace covenant and integrity pledge for fair and peaceful election," Campos said.
After the unity walk, the candidates and their supporters attended a Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Domingo Salonga, followed by the oath-taking and the peace covenant signing.
"As we sign our integrity pledge, I hope that this would serve as our guidance in any actions and decisions that we do. Let us remember that our ultimate responsibility is to safeguard and trust that the people have placed in us'" Campos said.
"May this covenant inspire us to uphold the rule of law and work together to ensure our election reflected through will of the people," she added.
Campos also reminded the candidates that "Baklas Operation" is ongoing where election campaign materials posted outside the common poster areas in public places are taken down.
For his part, Fernando said that he and the rest of the National Unity Party candidates are supporting the initiative for a peaceful and fair election.
"This program, which is being conducted before the campaign begins, is an important step in ensuring a peaceful, orderly, honest and clean 2025 elections," the governor said.
