Break The Fake Movement Tapped by ASEAN Foundation to Lead AI Literacy Initiative in The Philippines

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform industries and daily life, ensuring digital literacy and preparedness has become a global priority. Recognizing this need, the ASEAN Foundation has selected the Break the Fake Movement (BTFM), a Philippine-based media and information literacy organization, as one of its Local Implementing Partners (LIPs) to implement the AI Ready ASEAN Programme in the country.

With support from Google.org, this initiative aims to equip 5.5 million individuals across ASEAN—including youth, educators, and parents—with essential AI literacy skills. The program seeks to bridge the knowledge gap, empowering communities to adapt to AI advancements and ensuring that emerging technologies are leveraged for inclusion and progress.

The AI Ready ASEAN Programme will facilitate AI education through collaborations with academic institutions, organizations, and community groups. Participants will gain foundational knowledge of AI, critical thinking skills for responsible AI use, and practical applications that enhance learning and decision-making in an increasingly digital world.

Call for Master Trainers and Institutional Partners

To support the program’s nationwide rollout, the Break the Fake Movement is seeking qualified Master Trainers to lead AI literacy campaigns across the Philippines. Individuals aged 17 and above, with expertise in AI and digital literacy, are invited to apply and contribute to the initiative’s goal of reaching over 1 million Filipinos.

Additionally, educational institutions, universities, organizations, and community groups are encouraged to partner with BTFM to integrate AI education into their networks. This collaborative effort aims to foster a digitally literate society, ensuring no one is left behind in technological advancements.
