MANILA, Philippines — Ayala-led Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has wrapped up the National Capital Region (NCR) run of its flagship cybersecurity capacity-building program, underscoring efforts to strengthen coordination among financial institutions, law enforcement and government prosecutors in combating digital crime.
The BPI Cyberacademy 2025: Strengthening Cyber Capacity for Law Enforcement and Prosecutors held on Dec. 3 and 4 in Makati brought together more than 70 officers from the Southern Police District’s Anti-Cybercrime Group, representatives from the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group and prosecutors from across Metro Manila.
The two-day program was co-organized with the Philippine National Police, the PNP-ACG and the Department of Justice–Office of Cybercrime (DOJ-OOC).
The listed bank said the NCR training highlighted the bank’s commitment to building national cyber readiness through sustained public-private cooperation.
“CyberAcademy is designed to strengthen collaboration — bringing private financial institutions and concerned government agencies into one shared space where we can understand each other’s roles, exchange insights and build a more seamless and coordinated response to financial cybercrime,” said Elena Torrijos, head of public affairs and communications at BPI.
PNP-ACG acting director PBGen. Wilson Asueta stressed the value of shared training platforms in elevating enforcement capabilities and improving coordination with the financial sector.
“It really helps us strengthen our political resolve in building a safer and more resilient cyberspace in our country,” he said, urging participating officers to “put into action” the lessons from the program.
