MANILA, Philippines — The reward money for information leading to the arrest of fugitive tycoon Atong Ang has been increased to P20 million, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said.
Remulla announced this at a press conference on Thursday, February 12, saying that the funds came from the confidential funds of the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police.
“P20 million for information leading to his arrest,” Remulla said.
"Galing 'yan sa confidential funds provided to the PNP and the DILG para sa ganyang kaso (It came from the confidential funds provided to the PNP and the DILG for such cases)," he added.
Remulla first set the bounty for information leading to Ang’s arrest on January 15, setting the amount at P10 million. He has been hiding after several courts sought his arrest over the case of the missing sabungeros, who have been reported missing since 2021.
Authorities are currently conducting a manhunt for Ang. After initial speculation that he was in Cambodia, Justice Secretary Frederick Vida said intelligence suggests he is still in the Philippines.
"Our records show that he is still here. Based on intelligence, there are indications that he’s still around,” Justice Secretary Frederick Vida told reporters on Wednesday, February 11.

The first announcement came after the Sta. Cruz, Laguna Regional Trial Court first issued a warrant against Ang on January 13. In this case, all of his co-accused were arrested, except him.
Two other courts in Region IV-A have also issued arrest warrants against him.
On January 15, the Lipa RTC also issued a warrant. On February 6, another court in Laguna, the San Pablo RTC Branch 29, also issued an arrest warrant against the fugitive tycoon.
Charges against Ang and his co-accused include kidnapping, serious illegal detention and kidnapping with homicide.
All of the charges are non-bailable.
