Sen. Bong Go and Quezon City District 2 Councilor Mikey Belmonte attend the distribution of assistance to members of 130 cooperatives on Friday.
MANILA, Philippines — Leaders and members of cooperatives from Luzon have been lauded for helping communities and contributing to a resilient nation.
“A cooperative is not only about business. It’s about people helping people, about communities lifting each other up. For each family you aid, you strengthen the local economy and reinforce the culture of bayanihan that makes our nation resilient,” Sen. Bong Go said on Friday.
“Cooperatives play a vital role in fostering economic development and inclusivity, especially in communities where opportunities are limited,” he added.
As part of the Senate cooperative committee, Go said he is committed to supporting initiatives and reforms that will benefit micro and small cooperatives.
Quezon City District 2 Councilor Mikey Belmonte accompanied Go.
Around 130 cooperatives took part on Friday’s activity, with 500 participants present.
Cooperatives and other attendees received basketballs and volleyballs, jackets, shirts, pens, fans, grocery packs and a pair of shoes.
