MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go reaffirmed his commitment to reach out to communities in need, as he visited and distributed assistance to fire victims in Barangay BF Homes in Parañaque on Friday.
Go emphasized the importance of staying grounded in service, noting that responding to the immediate needs of affected communities should remain a priority.
Each of the 114 affected families received financial assistance, grocery packs, snacks, vitamins, balls, shirts and water containers to help them cope with immediate needs while rebuilding their lives.
Select beneficiaries received additional support like a pair of shoes, cellphones and bicycles.
In his advocacy for genuine compassion for Filipinos in need, Go directly reached out to the community and urged its members to remain strong.
“Don’t lose hope. Let us help each other,” Go said in Filipino.
The senator reiterated that effective disaster preparedness requires close coordination between government units and communities, capable responders, resilient infrastructure and accessible health services.
Go is the principal author of Republic Act 11589 (Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021), which mandates a 10-year modernization plan that includes enhanced training, better equipment, additional firefighters and nationwide fire-prevention campaigns.
He also authored the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, a measure that requires the establishment of permanent, disaster-resilient evacuation centers in every city and municipality nationwide.
