MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confiscated P61.707 billion worth of smuggled agricultural commodities, illegal drugs and other contraband last year.
The BOC recorded 1,024 successful enforcement operations in 2025.
Based on BOC data, the most significant seizures include P28.47 billion worth of general commodities; counterfeit goods worth P17.72 billion; dangerous drugs, P5.63 billion; wildlife and natural resources, P4.80 billion; and tobacco products, P1.86 billion.
Smuggled agricultural goods valued at over P622 million were also confiscated in 85 operations.
Amid the flood control controversy, the BOC recovered 30 luxury vehicles reportedly linked to contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya.
Authorities issued warrants of seizure and detention for 13 Discaya cars.
Five forfeited vehicles were auctioned off, generating P47.762 million that was remitted to the national treasury as restitution.
The BOC revoked or suspended the accreditations of 40 importers and 12 customs brokers who violated customs laws and regulations.
Sixty-four criminal cases have been filed by the BOC before the Department of Justice, including 31 cases involving agricultural smuggling.
As for the Fuel Marking Program, the BOC marked 21.102 billion liters of fuel in 2025, generating P247.12 billion in revenue.
“The BOC remains committed to transparent enforcement that protects government revenue, legitimate trade and the welfare of the people,” Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.
