BINI, TJ Monterde, Hev Abi, Maki, and Ben&Ben were among the many OPM artists honored by The Official Philippines Chart, which officially launched on Wednesday night in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

At the launch party, the Filipino artists were recognized with a plaque, or a trophy for those in the number one spots, for the years of hard work and dedication to their craft.

Here are the Top 10 Local Songs of the Year 2024, according to The Official Philippines Chart:

  1. "Palagi" by TJ Monterde
  2. "Dilaw" by Maki
  3. "Sining" by Dionela (feat. Jay R)
  4. "Salamin, Salamin" by BINI
  5. "Pantropiko" by BINI
  6. "Babaero" by gins&melodies and Hev Abi
  7. "Walang Alam" by Hev Abi
  8. "Alam Mo Ba Girl" by Hev Abi
  9. "Tingin" by Cup of Joe and Janine Teñoso
  10. "Take All the Love" by Arthur Nery

On the red carpet, TJ told reporters that he is grateful for getting recognized, but these honors are just a bonus for him as an artist.

“At this point sa career ko, parang ano na talaga 'ko sa… I don’t wanna talk about streams or views anymore. I just wanna keep writing songs and write and write because I want to write music. That’s just it,” the singer-songwriter said.

“’Yung mga ganito, sobrang bonus nalang talaga ‘to.”

Right before the performance of his mega-hit, "Palagi," TJ shared that the song was something that came from his heart.

“It’s good to have these charts and all these trophies and these streams, but this song—I wrote this song out of ‘yung feeling na ayoko nang mag-isip ng streams, ayoko na mag-isip ng charts. I just wanna write because I want to write. That’s it,” he said.

“Balik kayo dun sa unang kantang sinulat niyo. Bakit niyo ginawa ‘yun? Kasi gusto niyong magsulat, gusto niyong mag-express. Dun ko nasulat ‘tong song na ‘to."

Meanwhile, the Top 10 Local Artists of the Year 2024 are the following:

  1. BINI
  2. Hev Abi
  3. Ben&Ben
  4. Cup of Joe
  5. Arthur Nery
  6. Dionela

In BINI's acceptance speech for being named as the number one local artist, the group dedicated the award to the dreamers and their BLOOMs.

“Ang award po na ito ay para po sa lahat ng dreamers. Sa lahat po ng BLOOMs namin na nakikikanta, nakikisayaw sa 'min. If hindi dahil sa kanila, wala naman po kami dito,” leader Jhoanna said.

“And to our fellow OPM artists, thank you po sa support and love niyo for BINI. Sobrang na-appreciate po namin and let’s continue making our local music scene thrive. Mabuhay ang musikang Pilipino!”

BINI also thanked their management, the charts, and the organizations behind them.

The Official Philippines Chart is backed by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) and Philippine Recorded Music Rights Inc. (PRM).

The chart will be updated weekly and made publicly available every Tuesday on PRM's official website, www.prm.com.ph, as well as through its official social media channels.

It also has regional chart counterparts in Malaysia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand.

During the launch party, Johnson Arul, Senior Regional Market Analyst SEA at IFPI, told GMA News Online that what makes The Official Philippines Chart different from other music charts is that data is gathered from both sales and streams.

“We are the only charts that actually economically weighed streams, based on actual data that we get from the recorded music labels directly, be it the volume of streams or the revenues from the streams,” Arul said.

“So, using this data, we are actually able to come up with economic building accurately, and that's what really makes our charts stand out,” he added. “Our charts reflect the actual market economics, the other charts may not necessarily.”
