MANILA, Philippines — The Nation's Girl Group BINI made a loud statement on one of music's biggest stages after debuting at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
BINI is the first P-Pop and OPM act to perform at the popular music festival, which is marking its silver edition.
A large crowd had already gathered at the festival's Mojave stage, which erupted in cheer when the girl group's logo flashed onscreen and dancers tumbled onstage.
The girl group entered wearing golden warrior-like outfits and salakots, all while their names were being shown on the screen behind them, starting their 45-minute set with the upbeat track "Shagidi."
Fans had clearly filled up the Mojave area as many in front of the stage had their phones out to record the historic performance, some even dancing along.
The girls then suddenly discarded their outfits to reveal sparkling blue ensembles, shifting to "Zero Pressure" as a lyric video played behind them.
After performing "Out Of My Head," group leader Jhoanna led the introductions of each member, with Maloi even sneaking in a "Coachella, mag-ingay!"
"We are so hyped to be here and we hope you all ready to party with us in the desert as we take you into our world," said Jhoanna while Aiah added, "We are so grateful to be here, to represent the Philippines on a global stage, and share with you guys our music."
Sheena shouted out to their fans, Blooms, present in the festival and on the livestream, then Stacey led the set into the set's first Filipino songs "Karera" and "Salamin, Salamin" — with some Blooms even shouting "Ayokong maniwala, ey!" during the latter's second verse.
The group continued on with "Blink Twice" and "Cherry on Top" when Maloi quipped afterwards, "Being here with all of you has always been sweetest cherry on top of our journey so far!"
For an energy check, Mikha taught the Mojave crowd the popular hand gesture "eyy!" which many joined in on, and Gwen introduced BINI's latest single "Blush" followed by "Bikini."
The crowd cheered again head of the group's last song "Pantropiko" and even chanted "BINI!" when the set ended.
"Maraming salamat Coachella, we had a great time! We hope you had as much fun as we had. We love you Blooms!" Colet ended as many waved Philippine flags and foldable hand fans.
