Biñan celebrates 15th cityhood anniversary

BIÑAN CITY — The local government has led the commemoration of the 15th cityhood anniversary of Biñan on Sunday.

Various sectors and government offices participated in the People's Parade followed by the inauguration of new city projects, such as the elevated parking behind Alberto Mansion and the Biñan Center for Performing Arts (BCPA), which is part of the Biñan Cultural Center Complex.

Mayor Arman Dimaguila, said the unity among local officials played a significant role in the continuous progress of the city.

Also present during the activity were Vice Mayor Gel Alonte, the city councilors led by Dada Reyes and Biñan Rep. Len Alonte, who also contributed in making Biñan a city.

The three-day celebration which concluded on Feb. 2, 2025 includes a thanksgiving mass, the unveiling of historical marker at BCPA, the 1580 Market thanksgiving dinner, the Gabi ng Tagumpay and a cultural night.

By the virtue of the Republic Act 9740, Biñan became a component city on Feb. 2, 2010.

Dimaguila said Biñan will continue to promote the arts, culture and its local talents. He also wants to ensure that these legacies are passed on to future generations.

"This place will further develop the skills of Biñan's people, especially the youth. Here, visitors from outside Biñan will witness the talents of our city. This venue will host mini concerts and other events," the mayor said.

National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab was the guest of honor during the inauguration of the Biñan Center for Performing Arts.

The city government has also declared the period from Aug. 7, 2024 to Aug. 7, 2025 as Biñan Theater Arts Year, showing its full support for the performing arts.
