MANILA, Philippines —  Fugitive gambling tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang has no departure record, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said yesterday.

“We have no record of Ang leaving the Philippines,” BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval told reporters. “We have centralized database.”

On Tuesday, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said the DILG received information that Ang has been sighted in Vietnam.

Asked whether the businessman could have left without passing through regular ports, Sandoval said, “Most probably.”

Ang is wanted for his alleged involvement in the case of missing sabungeros or cockfight aficionados.
