Key officials of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Wendel Holdings Co. Inc. and D.M. Wenceslao Group of Co. led the burying of the time capsule during the groundbreaking of the upcoming Delfin J. Wenceslao Jr. Campus at Aseana City.
MANILA, Philippines — Motivated by their shared commitment to build a brighter future for the next generation of innovators, key officials from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), D.M. Wenceslao & Associates Inc. (DMWAI) and Wendel Holdings Co. Inc. led the groundbreaking ceremony of the upcoming Delfin J. Wenceslao Jr. Campus at Aseana City, Parañaque.
The state-of-the-art facility will be named after the late Delfin J. Wenceslao Jr., a real estate visionary and the former president and chairman of the board of DMWAI. Founded by Delfin Sr. in 1965, the company is known for its expertise in land reclamation, with the 204-hectare Aseana City as one of its largest projects.
In his opening remarks, Wendel Holdings Co. Inc. director Delfin Angelo “Buds” Wenceslao shared that Benilde as a partner is not just a point of pride, but also a transformative addition to Aseana’s ecosystem.
“Your students, faculty and researchers will breathe life into this development, turning our streets and spaces into places of dialogue, imagination and collaboration,” he said. “Together, we share a belief that cities are not built, they are cultivated – through learning, creativity and a shared commitment to the common good.”
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez stated the new campus is a powerful proof of hope as it opens more doors for the youth and grants them access to quality, globally competitive education rooted in innovation.
Benilde Board of Trustees chairman Cezar Consing likewise walked guests through the rich history of the college as the first Higher Education Institution to offer pioneering programs – to include animation, photography, film, multimedia arts, production design, fashion design, music production and dance – and emphasized the institution’s mission to nurture individual talents and inclusivity.
“What they will see is a campus built with students at the very center of the overall design,” he noted. “And they will receive an education worthy of their tuition and their time, an education that is devoted to developing each and every one of them – to grow, create, innovate, serve, lead and make a positive difference to people and the world.”
In his closing remarks, Benilde president Br. Edmundo Fernandez FSC reiterated how community is at the heart of the Lasallian ethos.
“We emphasize the building of community in our schools in all its many dimensions and it is my wish that the Delfin J. Wenceslao Jr. Campus will allow for the building of community in Aseana where the different stakeholders, where young and old can come and have conversations, have interactions and have fellowship,” he said.
The structure, which is currently in the early design stages, is designed by Architect Ed Calma, the creative behind the college’s iconic Design + Arts Campus along Pablo Ocampo Street in Malate, Manila.
The campus will feature multi-tiered lecture halls and classrooms, as well as its very own theater. It will also house modern learning areas, to include laboratories, workshops and sewing and weaving rooms.
It will rise on the corner of L. Celerio and A. Veneracion Streets and will stand on approximately 3,845 square meters. The Delfin J. Wenceslao Jr. Campus is set to welcome a new pool of young talents beginning Academic Year 2027 to 2028.
