‘One of the things we want to improve in these shows is the visual component of the tour,’ says Miguel Benjamin as Ben&Ben kicks off ‘The Traveller Across Dimensions’ world tour in Cebu this May
MANILA, Philippines – With a new album and an upcoming tour, Ben&Ben gears up for a new beginning in the band’s momentous career.
The folk-pop band announced the initial five locations for “The Traveller Across Dimensions” world tour, starting in Cebu on May 24.
After Cebu, the nine-piece band will perform in Bacolod on June 8, and in Davao on June 22 to wrap up the Philippine leg.
Ben&Ben will then go overseas to continue their tour in Lincoln, California on July 12 and Singapore on December 14. The band is expected to add more international shows in between those dates.
As they prepare for the tour, lead vocalist Paolo Benjamin reflected on the band’s journey following an eight-year run that saw them rise to the top of the OPM scene.
“What encourages me, and what encourages all of us, is the fact that we have gone through a lot as a band and resolved a lot in the realm of challenges to be ready enough for this next chapter for us,” Paolo said during the tour’s press conference on Tuesday, May 6, at Red Rhino in Mandaluyong.
As part of exploring a fresh start, the band hopes to have a more visual concert experience to go with their hit music.
“One of the things we want to improve in these shows is the visual component of the tour. We want it to be one of the main features of this world tour,” Miguel Benjamin said.
“We were very particular about the details and what things we wanted to improve on visually. We are working hard to make that happen,” he added.
The concert will be produced through the band’s partnership with Ovation Productions for the Philippine and Singapore legs, AEG Presents Asia for the Singapore show, and the NY Entourage Productions for the US-based concerts.
The band also teased a one-of-a-kind production aspect in their concerts for the coming months.
“We are trying to do something very different production-wise,” Miguel said.
Last December, the band held its first Mall of Asia Arena concert, where fans had a more sensory concert experience.
The major concert featured animation and immersive storytelling, much like their latest album, The Traveller Across Dimensions, which includes “Autumn,” “Could Be Something,” “Courage,” and “Triumph,” among other songs.
The concept album is known for its central character, Liwanag, and her journey towards inner peace.
Also expected to be part of the tour are the band’s latest single “Saranggola,” which tackles lasting friendships, and other hits such as “Araw Araw,” “Sa Susunod Na Habang Buhay,” and “Paninindigan Kita.” – Rappler.com
