MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, who has been absent from the Senate since November last year, is believed to be staying in Davao, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said yesterday.
Remulla revealed that Dela Rosa is no longer staying at his residence in Cavite.
“He no longer comes home here. As far as I know, he is in Davao with his family,” Remulla said in an interview on GMA News.
Dela Rosa has not reported for work since Nov. 11, 2025, after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla disclosed that the International Criminal Court had issued a warrant of arrest for the former Philippine National Police chief over his role as implementer of the brutal anti-drug campaign of the Duterte administration.
As Duterte’s top enforcer of the drug war, Dela Rosa oversaw operations in which thousands of drug suspects were killed by police for allegedly resisting arrest or fighting back.
Remulla said authorities cannot move against Dela Rosa without an official copy of the ICC warrant.
“We cannot take any action on that until there is an actual warrant of arrest,” he said.
