BALANGA CITY — The Bataan Police Provincial Office remembered the heroic sacrifice of the Special Action Force (SAF) 44 10 years ago in a simple but meaningful program at Camp Cirilo Tolentino here on Saturday.
Bataan police director Col. Palmer Tria led the ceremony observed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) nationwide with the theme "Courage Beyond Measure: Remembering the Heroic Sacrifice of SAF 44 for Peace."
The widow, Raechel, and only child, Jaden, of SSgt. John Lloyd Sumbilla were honored in the program.
Raechel gave birth to Jaden three months after her husband was killed in Mamasapano. Jaden delivered a heartfelt message dur-ing the program.
"The Bataan PNP proudly honors the gallantry and heroism of the SAF 44, whose sacrifice exemplifies exceptional courage and dedication in the service of peace and security," said Tria.

"In 2015, SSgt. Sumbilla, a native of Samar who built his family in Morong, Bataan, together with his fellow troopers, made the ultimate sacrifice during a critical mission to capture an international terrorist in their sincere effort to ensure the safety and stability of our nation," added Tria.
