COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has assured a smooth transition of leadership from outgoing Interim Chief Minister (ICM) Ahod Balawag Ebrahim to incoming ICM Abdulraof Macacua, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery to the region.

In a statement Tuesday, the BARMM government emphasized that the leadership change would not disrupt programs and services, reaffirming its commitment to good governance and a seamless transition.

Amid speculation about the leadership shift, BARMM called on the public to remain united in upholding moral governance, justice and peace, especially during Ramadan.

"As we approach the final stretch of the transition period, we call on everyone to remain united in our collective pursuit of moral governance, justice, peace and a brighter future in the Bangsamoro," the statement said.

The regional government also thanked Ebrahim for his leadership, having laid strong political foundations and implemented significant reforms, including landmark legislation and moral governance mechanisms.

On March 3, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Macacua to replace Ebrahim, who was also named a member of the regional parliament.

The Presidential Communications Office released the list of new and reappointed members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority on Monday. They will serve until the first parliamentary elections in October.

Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr., meanwhile, expressed confidence in Macacua's leadership.

"I wholeheartedly express my gratitude to Chair[man] Ebrahim for his leadership and vision, particularly in fostering meaningful autonomy for the Bangsamoro people and advancing the peace process in the region," Galvez said in a statement.

"For the continuity and success of the Bangsamoro peace agreement, we place our trust in Interim Chief Minister Macacua as he takes the helm of governance, especially with the first parliamentary elections just seven months away."
