MANILA, Philippines — Actress Barbie Imperial expressed her disbelief after receiving her electricity bill amounting to P18,964.82, saying the charge was unusually high considering she barely spends time at home.

In a Facebook post, Barbie shared a photo of her latest bill along with the caption, "Meralco wild!!!"

She explained that she lives alone in her condominium unit and is often away for work, spending 12 to 14 hours a day on taping before returning home only to sleep.

"'Yung mag-isa ka lang sa condo halos wala ka pa araw-araw dahil 12–14 hours ka sa taping," she wrote.

Barbie's post quickly drew reactions from fellow social media users, many of whom shared similar experiences of unexpectedly high electricity bills in recent months. Some encouraged the actress to have her meter and billing reviewed to determine whether the increase was due to higher consumption or a possible billing issue.

Her complaint comes amid growing public concern over rising electricity costs, with several consumers — including celebrities — reporting significant increases in their monthly power bills.
