BAGUIO CITY — The city government, under Mayor Benjamin Magalong, finally received the P8 million cash reward for topping the Batang Pinoy National Championship and placing 2nd runner-up in the Philippine National Games (PNG) in 2023.
Assistant City Administrator Vittorio Jerico Cawis and City Sports and Development officer Gaudencio Gonzales received the check from Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richard Bachman in a simple turnover program held Jan. 15 at the PSC office in Malate, Manila.
Baguio City received P5 million for placing first in Batang Pinoy and P3 million for its performance in the PNG.
During the program, the PSC chair commended the city for its consistent stellar showings in the national sports events.

Gonzales said that the cash prize will be infused into the city's sports development programs and purchase sports equipment for the use of the athletes.
