Bacolod City MassKara Dancers

Hong Kong Tourism Board

MANILA, Philippines — The famed MassKara dancers of Bacolod's titular festival will be taking to the streets of Hong Kong once more for Chinese New Year celebrations.

This February 17, the Hong Kong district of Tsim Sha Tsui will light up as international groups perform to ring in the Year of the Fire Horse during the Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade.

The Philippines will be represented by the MassKara dancers, who were last featured in the parade's 2024 edition, which marked the event's return after five years.

The Canlaon City Pasayaw Dance Company, also from Negros, were the Philippine contingent last year.

Other international acts performing this year includes France's FierS à Cheval, Canada's Les Vitaminés, Australia's Manly Seabirds, Italy's Cromosauro, and the Xi'an Acrobatic Troupe from mainland China, with all of them contributing floats to the parade.

After the February 17 parade, the participating floats will be put on display until February 26 at the brand new Kai Tak Sports Park where visitors can get closer for better photos.

The theme for this year's parade is "Best Fortune. World Fortune" invigorated with the energetic spirtit of the horse, which in Chinese culture is a symbol of strength and success.

Other events occurring this Chinese New Year in Hong Kong are fairs in Causeway Bay's Victoria park and Mong Kok's Fa Hui Park, a Well-Wishing Festival in Lam Tseun, and a horse race at the Sha Tin Racecourse.
