MANILA, Philippines — The future is looking bright for the country’s oldest conglomerate Ayala Corp. with four of its next-generation leaders poised to take on bigger roles for the group.
Ayala president and CEO Cezar Consing said that Mariana Beatriz Zobel de Ayala and Mark Robert Uy were promoted to managing directors, while Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala and Jaime Urquijo were elevated to executive directors.
The promotions serve as a recognition to the ability of the four leaders in building business, attracting talent and driving transformation at the group.
“Each of our senior promotees represent Ayala at its best – purposeful, forward looking, professional, engaged. They will help make for an even better Ayala as we look ahead to completing two centuries of building businesses that enable people to thrive,” Consing said.
According to Ayala, each of the four next-generation leaders will focus on areas of the group’s business that are strategically important to its future.
The company said that Mariana would lead the transformation of Ayala Land Inc.’s leasing business across its retail, hospitality and office pillars.
The transformation includes the reinvention of flagship and core malls as well as reimagining offices for changing workplace needs and a “post-office” generation.
Uy, meanwhile, will lead the continued transformation of the group’s portfolio of businesses, with the aim of being more concentrated and more valuable yet still diversified.
As part of the transformation of its portfolio, Ayala will be looking after the longer-term future of existing businesses while exploring new ones aligned with its broader purpose.
Jaime Alfonso, for his part, is expected to play a leading role in upholding and raising the group’s standards for excellent governance.
He will also continue to focus on accelerating the growth of Ayala’s New Energy Vehicle platform, ACMobility.
