More fun in the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — Ayala Land Hospitality (ALH) is poised to give local and international tourists a more compelling reason to travel to the Philippines, with plans to introduce new and exciting hotel brands as part of its aggressive expansion over the next five years.

ALH recently announced a partnership with Marriott International to bring the Moxy Hotels brand to the Philippines.

ALH president and CEO George Aquino told The STAR that there is “more to come” as far as the Ayala Group’s hospitality arm is concerned.

“More exciting hotels in the future,” Aquino said.

“Obviously, we made a commitment that we’re going to expand by over 4,000 rooms in the next five years across the country. We’re going to introduce different hotel brands, including our own brands. So watch out, it’s going to be very exciting,” he said.

ALH is targeting to double its room inventory to 8,000 by 2030 through an ambitious nationwide expansion, entailing a capital expenditure investment of over $500 million.

The company’s strategic refresh launched earlier this year positions it at the forefront of a new chapter in Philippine tourism amid the changing needs of global travelers.

ALH’s portfolio currently spans homegrown brands like Seda Hotels, El Nido Resorts and Huni, Lio, alongside international luxury names such as Raffles Makati, Fairmont Makati and the upcoming Mandarin Oriental Makati.

Ayala Land has also acquired the New World Hotel Makati, which will form part of ALH’s portfolio.

Meanwhile, Moxy Hotels, Marriott’s playful and design-forward lifestyle hotel brand that is crafted for socially driven and experience-seeking travelers, will make its debut in Makati.

Located in the heart of Circuit’s 21-hectare development, Moxy Circuit Makati is aimed at becoming a premier live-work-play destination, featuring 260 contemporary rooms and suites.

According to Aquino, Moxy Circuit Makati is targeted to open by the end of 2026.

“We’re so excited about Moxy. Because if you think about it, all the international brands that are in the Philippines are what you would say your hard boxed brand – this is the brand, this is the standard. Moxy is a lifestyle brand,” Aquino said.

“Like for me, Moxy is tailored to a younger generation, but also to a cool baby boomer who wants to be part of that experience. So we’re really excited about the launch of Moxy. It’s kind of the first lifestyle international brand here. The storytelling that we are going to infuse into this hotel is going to be special,” he said.
