MANILA, Philippines — Asia United Bank (AUB) has breached the P1-billion mark in total loan availments through its salary cash advance feature HelloBale, just over a year since the product was launched under its HelloMoney e-wallet.

In a statement, AUB said the milestone was achieved as of May, with around 500,000 HelloBale transactions processed since its rollout in March 2024.

The listed bank attributed the strong uptake to its ecosystem of over 600 companies that use HelloMoney for payroll disbursement.

This milestone reflects HelloMoney’s commitment to addressing the financial needs of working Filipinos by providing instant access to credit when they need it most, AUB president Manuel Gomez said.

By partnering with companies that use HelloMoney for payroll disbursement, HelloBale has created a streamlined lending ecosystem that benefits both employers and employees, he said.

HelloBale allows eligible HelloMoney users to make a single cash advance between P1,000 and P15,000 per payroll period, in increments of P100. While the loan is interest-free, a processing fee is deducted from the proceeds of the loan.

AUB said the credit limit is pre-determined based on a credit evaluation process, making the approval seamless and more efficient for users.

Wilfredo Rodriguez Jr., AUB head of operations and technology, said HelloBale exemplifies the growing role of fintech in promoting financial inclusion.

By leveraging our existing payroll relationships and digital wallet infrastructure, the platform has removed traditional barriers to credit access, he said.

This enables more Filipinos to meet their immediate financial needs without going through the usual lengthy approval process, Rodriguez said.

AUB’s HelloMoney e-wallet continues to expand its footprint in digital banking, offering services ranging from fund transfers to bills payment and now, credit access through HelloBale.
