Five young Filipinos working to address hate and promote responsible tech can attend the November 3 to 6 summit, expenses covered. Deadline to apply is on May 27.
MANILA, Philippines – Are you a young Filipino passionate about fostering understanding between groups, promoting civic engagement, and using technology for the public good?
Rappler can help you become a delegate at the One Young World Summit 2025 to be held from November 3 to 6, in Munich, Germany!
For the second year, Rappler and One Young World will be supporting the participation of five young Filipinos to attend the annual summit – covering travel, accommodation, and meal expenses. The five will officially be known as Rappler-OYW scholars.
The One Young World Summit has been called the biggest, most impactful youth leadership gathering in the world. It brings together hundreds of young leaders from over 190 countries to listen to a lineup of inspiring speakers, share learnings with each other, and network.
We are looking for young Filipinos who have a track record of impact, a clear sense of purpose, leadership skills and qualities, and who have demonstrated excellence in fields for which this year’s theme applies:
- Anti-hate
- Responsible tech
To apply, you must be 18 to 30 years of age by the time of the summit. Applicants older than 30 may be selected if they have done excellent work and demonstrated exceptional qualities and impact.
The application period runs until May 27, 2025.
To apply and get the full details, head to application page on the One Young World website by clicking the button below:
All applicants must download the free Rappler Communities app since the chat rooms in the app will be used in the application process. You can download the app from Play Store and App Store.
The five chosen to be Rappler-OYW scholars will be asked to hold community chats on their chosen topic, engaging Rappler readers on their advocacy, ahead of the summit.
About the Rappler OYW Scholarship
The Rappler scholarship bringing five young Filipinos to the OYW summit began in 2024, when Rappler CEO Maria Ressa first became a OYW counsellor. Counsellors are world leaders who speak at OYW summits. Maria will again be speaking at the summit this year.
Last year, our five scholars came from a variety of sectors: student journalism, medicine, gender equality, inclusive transportation, and youth political participation. They hosted their own community chats in the chat rooms inside the Rappler app. They also penned notes from the summit, sharing their experiences and learnings with Rappler readers. Rappler head of community Pia Ranada wrote about the delegates’ experiences in this newsletter. – Rappler.com
