Ara Davao penned a heartfelt post for her dad, Ricky Davao, a week after the late actor and director passed away.
On Instagram Thursday, the youngest daughter of Ricky and actress Jackie Lou Blanco shared photos taken from his memorial service.
In some of the photos, Ara can be seen holding the urn containing Ricky's ashes.
"Pa, it’s still so hard to believe that you’re gone. Many days will feel empty without you, but I find comfort in knowing you’re now free from pain and suffering," she wrote in the caption.
" I know it won’t be easy, but I’ll keep trying to live my best life everyday—because that’s what you would’ve wanted."
Ara noted that it has been a week since he passed away, adding, "And a lifetime still to go. I'll miss you everyday. Rest well and watch over me. Love you, Pa."
On Thursday morning, Ricky was honored on GMA's variety show "TiktoClock." Jackie Lou and their daughter, Rikki Mae, attended to witness the tribute. GMA Network also presented a plaque to the two of them.
Rikki Mae hoped the public would remember her dad's good heart, while Jackie Lou thanked everyone who mourned with them and sent their love.
“I hope you remember him for all that he was, and kung nakilala niyo siya personally or hindi man, I hope that whatever you learned from him is what you continue to share to others," said Jackie Lou.
Ricky and Jackie Lou got married in 1989 but separated later on. They have three children together: Kenneth, Rikki Mae, and Ara.
Ricky's death was confirmed by daughter Ara on the evening of May 2. He passed away from complications related to cancer at the age of 63.
Several celebrities paid tribute to him on social media following his passing.
With a career spanning over 40 years, Ricky is best known for his roles in “Abot Hanggang Sukdulan,” “Saranggola,” and “Ipaglaban Mo The Movie,” which earned him accolades from FAMAS, Gawad Urian, and the Metro Manila Film Festival, among others.
