MANILA, Philippines — Senatorial aspirants Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan topped the election survey conducted at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

According to a poll by UST’s official student publication, The Varsitarian, Aquino and Pangilinan garnered 83.42% and 79.58% of the votes, respectively.

Trailing behind them was former Commission on Audit Commissioner Heidi Mendoza, who received 60.70%.

Following Mendoza are Partido Lakas ng Masa candidates Leody de Guzman and Luke Espiritu, who garnered 44.77% and 56.94% of the votes, respectively.

Meanwhile, candidates from the Makabayan bloc dominated the 6th to 12th spots, except for the 10th place, which was secured by Sonny Matula with 34.89%.

According to UST students, the 6th to 12th positions were secured by the following candidates:

  • Teddy Casiño (6th): 37.66%
  • Arlene Brosas (7th): 36.93%
  • Danilo Ramos (8th): 36.68%
  • Ronnel Arambulo (9th): 34.89%
  • France Castro (11th): 27.78%
  • Liza Masa (12th): 22.71%

The Varsitarian conducted the survey from April 28 to May 7, involving 1,224 students from various academic departments at UST.

The survey participants were chosen using a random selection method that employed stratified sampling.

It was conducted both online and in person using Google Forms and has a margin of error of ±3% with a 95% confidence level, according to The Varsitarian. 

On Monday, May 12, around 68.43 million Filipinos are expected to vote in the 2025 midterm elections, including about 24 million youth voters.
