Apple Intelligence in China to be powered by Alibaba

3 weeks ago 14

Apple Intelligence in China is to be powered by Alibaba. Alibaba chairman Joe Tsai confirmed this at the World Government Summit in Dubai, reaffirming their company’s partnership with Apple for AI services.

Tsai said that Apple has been in talks with multiple companies in China, but chose to do business with Alibaba. He noted that they felt extremely honored to do business with a great company like Apple who wanted to use their AI to power their phones.
Prior to this confirmation by the company’s chairman, Apple has been in talks with companies like Baidu, ByteDance, and Tencent. For those wondering, Apple needs to have a local partner in China.

This is because AI services need to be approved by the government as they provide permits for operation. This is only given to local companies, thus why Apple Intelligence hasn’t been available in China so far.

With the announcement of their partnership with Alibaba, this issue has been resolved. As for what differences may occur from how Apple Intelligence usually works, details have yet to be unpacked.

We’ll update readers should we get wind of anything new as this is a developing story. What do you guys think about Apple Intelligence in China being powered by Alibaba? Let us know in the comment section below.
