Another unidentified man was found dead, floating in the Marikina River on Thursday afternoon, July 31, allegedly due to drowning.

This was the second day in a row that a body was found floating in the river, following the discovery of another unidentified body of a man in Barangay Malanday on July 30.

The Eastern Police District (EPD) said that a concerned citizen reported to them the lifeless body of the man floating in the river beneath the Marikina Bridge in Barangay Sto. Niño at around 3:40 p.m.

Rescue 161 personnel immediately responded and retrieved the cadaver from the river.

Authorities said the man, described as around 30 to 35 years old, approximately 5’4 tall, medium built and wearing black short pants with the brand name Champion.

The EPD Forensic Unit processed the scene and found no visible injuries on the man’s body.

An investigation is now ongoing to determine the identity of the deceased.

Marikina Rescue 161 has also coordinated with neighboring cities to help quickly identify the body.

They urged individuals with missing relatives or loved ones to get in touch with the Marikina Police for further assistance.
