MANILA, Philippines — Celebrity sisters Anne and Jasmine Curtis-Smith are mourning the loss of their father James Ernest Curtis-Smith, an Australian lawyer. He was 82 years old.

Anne announced her father's passing in a joint Instagram post with Jasmine and their half-sister Charley, James' daughter with his partner after splitting with the actresses' mother Carmencita "Carmen" Ojales.

The post includes two photos of a grinning James — one sepia-toned in his youth, the other in his elder years — and a statement by the family as other members were tagged.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected yet peaceful passing of our father. A true patriarch in every sense, he shaped us with strength, resilience, and a wit that will forever echo in our family," the statement read. "He was deeply loved, endlessly admired, and will live on in our hearts always. We will miss him dearly."

Among the first to offer condoling messages were Vicki Belo, Karylle, Ellen Adarna, Diana Zubiri, Vania Romoff and Benjamin Alves.

Anne, Jasmine and their brother Thomas are James' children from his second marriage. He had three daughters and one son from his first family in Australia, while Carmen had a daughter from her first marriage.
