MAYOR Carmelo Lazatin Jr. issued on Tuesday, April 8, a notice of closure of an illegally operated tobacco facility in Barangay Margot, Angeles City.

Barangay Margot Captain Dominador Lising Jr. reported the suspicious activity of the tobacco hub to Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, who coordinated it with the Business Permit and Licensing Division (BPLD) headed by Enrico Romero.

Upon checking, the BPLD found out that the tobacco hub was operating without a business permit.

Mayor Lazatin, together with Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Manuel, members of the BPLD, Barangay Margot Council, and Angeles City Police Office under Col. Joselito Villarosa, personally carried out the operation to stop the operation of the tobacco facility.

The ACPO is still undergoing its separate investigation on the said matter.

According to reports, no finished products of cigarettes were found during the raid of the tobacco hub, raising suspicions about its activities.

Upon interviewing the operator of the tobacco hub, the facility was only used to dry the tobacco before transporting it to their main manufacturing center.
